This year’s LIFT EVERY VOICE for SUCCESS concert is at 7 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church (at Court and Aurora Street).
The concert will feature Ephemera, Vitamin L, the Ithaca Gay Men’s Chorus, The Touchtones, the Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers, 22 Strings of Love, the children of the Community Unity Music Education Program, and a multi-faith choir of local church and synagogue singers. Video clips will highlight students and families involved in the programs of the Village at Ithaca.
This annual concert benefits the Village at Ithaca and encourages community participation. The mission of The Village at Ithaca is to advocate for excellence and equity in Ithaca’s public schools, by developing strategic community relationships, programs and services to ensure that students, particularly Black, Latino, and low-income students, consistently meet or exceed local and New York state standards of achievement.
This is the 9th annual Lift Every Voice concert to benefit the Village at Ithaca, which began as a joint project of Calvary Baptist and St. Pauls’s United Methodist churches. Their original vision of healing race relations by making music together has grown to include a diverse line-up of adult and youth performers from both town and gown. This year, inspired by new friendships formed through Healing Ithaca prayer services, and increased awareness of the need to work together to support education, the planning committee expanded to include nine representatives of religious congregations and community organizations. This team includes the two founding churches, First Congregational, and First Unitarian Church, Congregation Tikkun V’or (Ithaca Reform Temple) and Temple Beth-El, as well as members from Cornell and the Human Services Coalition. The group has worked together all year to orchestrate an evening of fabulous music, and a networking reception to expand partnerships and make resources available for more children and youth. Together, we Lift Every Voice for Success of all students, with an ever-expanding group of supporters.
Tickets available at <www.villageatithaca.org>, at the door, and at many area houses of worship including the TBE office.
Suggested donation of $10.
